Jackson Park Framework Plan Public Meeting

On January 14 a public presentation and discussion of the draft Jackson Park Framework Plan was hosted by Alderwoman Leslie Hairston. Robert Karr, president of the civic non-profit Project 120 presented an overview while Kulapat Yantrasast, project architect talked about the Music Court and Pavilion project. Patricia O’Donnell spoke to the comprehensive Framework Plan, showing current and proposed circulation to clearly reveal that access to the park is fragmented. Recapture of safe and scenic circulation is fundamental to revitalization of Jackson Park. Those present posed relevant questions about the draft Framework Plan, including several about the circulation approach, that will be discussed and developed further as park planning and projects continue.

Jackson Park Framework Plan provides an overall vision for this Olmsted masterwork to revitalize the park for the people of the South Side and all of Chicago.

Broken original circulation is a barrier to park use today. The Framework Plan- Circulation envisions integration of multi-use circulation and reorganization of vehicular traffic and parking.
